Works are primarily in ink and watercolour – exploring the contradictory qualities of those mediums. Ink pens make a definite and strong mark which cannot be shifted or corrected. Work in ink can be precise with a high level of control over the mark being made, even a kind of meditation in it. Watercolour is spontaneous and soft, with an emphasis on embracing the uncertainty and lack of precise control over the outcome. A tension exists between these mediums, which is can be explored and exploited.
